PNP's Julian Chang promises to transform Savanna-la-Mar
Julian Chang, who won the Savanna-la-Mar Division in Monday's Local Government Elections, says the town will be transformed now that she is the residents' local government advocate.
Chang, who won on a People's National Party (PNP) ticket, is among three women who were elected on Monday to serve in the Westmoreland Municipal Corporation.
She says Savanna-la-Mar, which is in need of a facelift, will return to being a place of choice for all stakeholders shortly.
“Savanna-la-Mar will be a better place, and I also want to make it clear that I am here for the people of the entire Savanna-la-Mar,” Chang said.
According to preliminary results from the Electoral Office of Jamaica, Chang polled 1,463 votes to defeat the Jamaica Labour Party's Lee Simpson, who received 1,117 votes, and independent candidate Don Foote, with seven votes.
On Tuesday she took to the streets of Savanna-la-Mar in a motorcade to celebrate with her party workers and other supporters.
