Police probing suspected car-stealing ring in East Kingston
The Kingston East police believe they have uncovered a car-stealing ring after discovering several scrapped vehicles, car parts and licence plates in Melbrook Heights in the division.
Crime officer for Kingston East, Deputy Superintendent of Police Collin McKenzie, says the items were discovered about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday by members of the division's Proactive Investigation Unit.
He says the vehicles are suspected to have been stolen from Steer Town, St Ann; Portmore, St Catherine; Duhaney Park, St Andrew; and other sections of the Corporate Area.
"We are seeking the public's assistance in identifying some of these plates and also the motor vehicle. We want to urge the citizens to cooperate as best as possible as this, we believe, is a stolen motor car ring," DSP McKenzie says.
DSP McKenzie is appealing to anyone with information to contact the Elletson Road police at 876-928-1261.
