A St Catherine woman was today fined $100,000 or 90 days' imprisonment for stealing electricity.

Forty-year-old Phillis Gordon, a labourer of Spanish Town, pleaded guilty to illegal abstraction of electricity.

Sentencing was handed down by Senior Parish Court Judge Desiree Alleyne.

Facts are that on February 1 a team from the Jamaica Public Service along with the police was on an operation in the area, during which Gordon's home was visited.

An illegal electricity connection was observed.

She was subsequently summoned to court.
