A 29-year-old man who turned himself in after being listed as wanted by the police has been charged with murder and other serious offences.

Ashwane McKenzie turned himself in at the Half-Way Tree Police Station on Wednesday in the company of his attorney.

He was interviewed on Saturday and was later charged with conspiracy to murder, possession of a prohibited weapon and use of a firearm to commit a felony.

Investigators say on August 11, 2023, Cedric Thompson, a 32-year-old labourer of Church Street in Fletcher's Land, Kingston, was killed in his community by three armed men.

Investigators later established McKenzie as a suspect, along with Calvin Simon and a third man, who is now deceased.

The police are appealing to Simon to also turn in himself at any police station.

Members of the public who can assist investigators are encouraged to contact Crime Stop at 311, the police 119 number or any police station.
