Disruption in cancer care at St Joseph’s as radiation machine undergoes repairs
The public, especially cancer patients, are being advised to expect disruption in services at the St Joseph's Hospital in St Andrew as the facility's radiation treatment machine is to undergo repairs and upgrades.
The South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA), in a media release today, informed that some services will be scaled down as a result of the upgrades.
Dr Dutris Bourne, Regional Clinical Coordinator for the National Cancer Treatment at the hospital, indicated that during this time, consultations for referred cancer patients will continue.
The radiation treatment provides radiation therapy to approximately 70 individuals daily.
The public will be informed as soon as service is restored.
The management team says it regrets this interruption in treatment and service delivery.
