Two more die from Fern Gully crash

The police say investigations into the accident are ongoing.

Two more persons have died as a result of injuries sustained in a vehicular crash in Fern Gully, St Ann, on Easter Sunday, bringing the number of fatalities from the crash to three.

The St Ann police say Kayla Brown, eight years old, and Noreen Allen, 58, both of  Wildman Street in Kingston, died on Saturday, April 6 and Monday, April 8 respectively.

Kayla, who was a student at Alpha Primary School, died at the Bustamante Hospital for Children, to which she was transferred after initially being treated at the St Ann's Bay Regional Hospital.

Forty-nine-year-old Suzette Thomas, also of Wildman Street, was pronounced dead at the St Ann's Bay Regional Hospital following the crash in which all the passengers and the driver were injured.

The police had reported that a Nissan bus with 23 passengers, mostly children, crashed in Fern Gully on the morning of March 31, after a tyre blew out and the driver lost control of the vehicle, which then crashed into an embankment.

Seven people were critically injured in the accident. The status of the other victims in the crash was not disclosed.

The police say investigations into the accident are ongoing.
