JLP announces changes to its Central Executive
The ruling Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has made changes to its Central Executive, the party's second-highest decision making body outside of its annual conference, to further strengthen its organisational structure.
At a meeting on Sunday, General Secretary Dr Horace Chang announced that Homer Davis and Audley Gordon have resigned from the post of Deputy General Secretary.
The Central Executive voted in favour of Senators Charles Sinclair and Delroy Williams being elected as the new deputy general secretaries.
Chang also informed that Senator Aubyn Hill has resigned as Party Treasurer.
The Central Executive voted in favour of Daryl Vaz being appointed as the party's new treasurer.
The Central Executive also voted in favour of Hill being appointed among the cadre of the party's deputy general secretaries.
It was indicated that Hill will be in charge of central administration and quality control in offering support to the party's secretariat.
Chang noted that the new additions to the party's secretariat are members of the Senate who do not currently have a constituency which requires their attention, thereby enabling them to dedicate the necessary effort to the complete the respective tasks assigned.
Chang also announced to the Central Executive that Robert Morgan has resigned as Chairman of the party's Public Relations Committee.
Party leader and Prime Minister Andrew Holness informed that a Public Relations Council is to be established to lead the party's communication efforts.
Membership of the council is to be revealed at a later date.
The JLP indicated that Holness charged members of the executive to remain steadfast and focused on the mission of advancing the interest of the Jamaican people.
He also reminded the Central Executive of a series of plans and policies which the Government has devised to further build on its track record of creating conditions favourable to easing the burdens on the Jamaican people and advancing the prosperity agenda.
