The accused is to return to court on July 8.

A policeman who allegedly sexually assaulted a female colleague was granted $500,000 bail with one or two sureties in the St Catherine Parish Court on Tuesday.

The accused, Sergeant Junior Rhule, is charged with indecent assault.

The bail application was made by attorney Peter Champagnie, KC.

The accused was ordered by Senior Parish Court Judge Yvette Wenthworth-Miller to return to court on July 8.

It is being alleged that in May 2023 the sergeant touched the female constable inappropriately.

She reported the matter to her superiors and an investigation was launched.

A file was compiled and submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, which ruled that the policeman be charged.
