Senior administrator at Excelsior Community College sent on leave amid financial probe
A senior administrator at Excelsior Community College in St Andrew has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation into allegations of missing funds.
Excelsior says the most senior assistant bursar was asked to assume some of the responsibilities during the interim, supported by the Chief Financial Officer, in accordance with established protocols to ensure continuity of the college's business.
It says this individual has been appointed by the Ministry of Education and Youth as an assistant bursar for approximately 15 years.
The employee has also worked in all the functional areas within the college's Accounts Department.
Excelsior says it is taking the situation seriously, noting that the matter is currently being investigated by the college's management.
It says the institution is committed to transparency and accountability in all its operations.
“We are committed to ensuring that all concerns are thoroughly investigated, and appropriate actions are taken based on the findings of the investigation,” the institution said in a media release.
“We appreciate the continued support and trust of our community as we work through this matter. Updates on the investigation will be provided as they become available,” it added.
