The Transport Authority is advising the public to be on the lookout for unscrupulous persons who are claiming that they are acting on behalf of the agency and its Managing Director, Ralston Smith, in the auctioning of motor vehicles.

The authority says no such motor vehicle auction is being conducted by the agency at this time, adding that only approved independent auctioneers can conduct auctions of its vehicles.

Smith says, as a matter of policy, the authority does not contact individuals to advise of motor vehicle auctions or does it collect monies from individuals in such cases, as only approved independent auctioneer conducts this process.

In light of the above, the authority is urging the public to be vigilant and persons who are approached with such an offer are being advised to report the matter to the police immediately.
