Pound worker, bus driver arrested in connection with corruption

An employee at the Transport Authority's pound in Lakes Pen, St Catherine has been arrested for breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act.

The police are probing a case of alleged collusion and fraud with a driver whose Toyota Hiace motor vehicle was seized and placed at the pound.

They say the pound clerk was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon after cops swooped down on the location.

It is reported that the operation came after it was discovered that the driver of the seized vehicle presented a false document in a bid to get it released by the police's traffic department.

It is being alleged that the clerk falsified a signature to give the impression that the driver was served with a summons in relation to the seizure of his vehicle.

The Hiace was seized on the grounds that the driver was operating contrary to his road licence.

Both parties remain in custody while the investigation continues.
