The Portland police seized an illegal gun and arrested a man during an early morning operation in St Margaret's Bay today.
The man is expected to be questioned later today.
The police say an intelligence- driven operation was conducted in the Rio Grande area of St Margaret's Bay about 2 a.m.
During the operation, the man was taken into custody following the discovery of a nine millimetre Smith and Wesson handgun.
The Rio Grande area of St Margaret's Bay has been under increased scrutiny since the Narcotics police recovered more than 1,200 pounds of compressed ganja along the river bank in April.
