St Catherine man gets two years in prison for arson
A man who pleaded guilty to arson was sentenced to two years' imprisonment with three years supervision in the St Catherine Circuit today.
Javanie Langley, a 20-year-old labourer of Bellas Gated district in St Catherine, was sentenced by Justice Yvonne Brown.
Facts are that on October 4, 2020, Langley, who was 17 at the time, had a dispute with the complainant over a damaged cell phone.
He along with others stoned the complainant's dwelling, then entered the premises and set it on fire.
The fire caused damaged to the house.
A report was made to the police and an investigation led to Langley being charged with arson.
Langley spent a year in custody after his arrest.
He made numerous court appearances and pleaded guilty last year to arson.
