STRIKE STAR Entertainment will host their second annual Screenwriters Workshop in Jamaica from June 20 to 21 at The Mico University College, Kingston.

This educational charity workshop was established last year in collaboration with entertainment industry giant, actor, writer, director and producer, the late Paul Eckstein (creator of the Godfather of Harlem and Narcos), and Grammy Award-winning music producer and actor, Bryce Wilson.

Strike Star Entertainment, founded by local entrepreneurs Ricky Lee and Steven Golding, is dedicated to nurturing and supporting local aspiring talent in entertainment by providing them with the tools and resources needed to pursue and develop a career in the film industry.

Since the inception of the annual workshop last year, the main goal has been to provide practical and hands-on instruction, paired with real-time industry guidance and advice on how to approach and pitch to producers and networks.

This year an exciting lineup of Hollywood and Nollywood actors, directors and producers will be contributing to furthering the education and opportunity for local creative minds, based on global standards to develop a thriving film industry here in Jamaica.

The keynote speakers and instructors include Orlando Jones, actor, producer and writer; Dallas Jackson, movie director and writer; Marvin Peart, movie producer; Bryce Wilson, music producer and actor; Natalie Thompson, owner of Cinecom Productions; Robert Maylor, lawyer, producer and screenwriter; Sean Murdock, writer; Vanessa Ballesteros, TV producer; Editi Effiong, owner of Anakle Films; and Robenson Lauvince, director.

“Jamaica is an international brand like no other. Known for our strengths in music, sports, cuisine and tourism, the country is also proving to have an aptitude for filmmaking and with support, will directly impact the next generation of screenwriters, fostering creativity and ensuring a vibrant future for storytelling,” said Lee.

The Screenwriters Workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Enos Nutall Lecture Theatre on the campus of The Mico University College. The cost is $5000 per day. For more information email: strikestarentertainment@gmail.com; or call WhatsApp: 1 876 8375843
