Men accused of stealing goods valuing $9m to return to court July 12
Three of five men accused of stealing goods valued at $9,000,000 from a company in St Catherine were granted bail in the sum of $200,000 each in the St Catherine Parish Court on Wednesday.
The five men, Ordelma Cunningham, John Shaw, Marlon Morrison, Junior Pennicot and Leo Irving are charged with larceny, conspiracy and breaches of the Proceeds of Crime Act.
When the matter was mentioned in court on Wednesday, Shaw, Cunningham and Morrison were granted bail with surety and ordered to surrender their travel documents.
Pennicot and Irving were remanded in custody.
The matter will again be mentioned on July 12.
It is alleged that an audit was conducted at the company and several pallets of cheese, seasoning and other items were unaccounted for.
Checks were made on the closed-circuit television system and Pennicot and Irving were allegedly observed loading the stolen items onto trucks.
On May 17, the police were summoned and an investigation led to the arrest of the five accused.
They were subsequently charged.
