The importance of end-time teachings
EVERYONE NEEDS to recognise the importance of the end-time teachings. God has purposely dedicated a lot of space in the Bible to it, in both the Old and New Testaments. The accounts of the end-times in the Bible are meant to bring us hope. We get to read the outcome well ahead of time and know that we win. “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and He will reign for ever and ever” (Revelations 11:15, NIV). Therefore, we can be confident as we face the end-times with all its difficulties.
When some of us hear of the end-times, it causes us to be fearful. Actually, some persons don’t read the Book of Revelation because they’re afraid of what it says; and some who read it approach it fearfully. We live in a society that promotes fear, so God wrote down what would occur, so that we would know what to expect and, therefore, not fear. While we see the things unfolding, we should also remember what Jesus is doing. Our faith in Christ should provide a secure foundation for us both now and for eternity, and everything in-between.
As believers, we can smile with hope because we know what’s happening and what will happen soon. We can look up because we know our redemption is near. Feeling fear because of thoughts of the end-times is an indication that our belief, knowledge, and eyes are not on what Jesus says. It’s on what we see. God is in control. In Isaiah, God says, “I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please’” (Isaiah 46:9-10, NIV). The fact that what is to come is in print long before it has happened, is testimony of the greatness of our God.
GOD WINS
All God’s other major prophecies have come to pass. Therefore, even from a humanistic, mathematical probability standpoint, we can reasonably expect the biblical prophecies on the end-times to come to pass as well. God already knows all the tricks, schemes, and devises that Satan will use in the last days, and with all of that, even as God reveals them, God wins. In the same way Satan knew of the first coming prophecies and couldn’t stop them, he knows what the end is, and he cannot stop God.
If you allow Satan to, he can hinder or stop us; and he will try. That’s why we need to know the story. Knowing end-time happenings tells us what’s up and what Satan is about. Through it God assures us, most of all, that He is in control and because of that we’re safe once we remain in Him. “…the Lord knows how to save those who serve him when troubles come(” 2 Peter 2:9, NCV). Our hope, sufficiency, and firm foundation is the King of all kings and the Lord of all lords.
God, through His Word and what He reveals about the end-times is showing us the authority and supremacy of Jesus. This should make our faith grow and open our eyes to God’s grace, power, and love. God did not give us the information for us to focus on what the enemy will do. Our focus should be Jesus. “… when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8, NIV.)
