Alleged gunman fatally shot by police in St Thomas
A man was fatally shot and an illegal gun reportedly seized in Seaforth, St Thomas on Saturday during an alleged confrontation with the police.
Dead is Franco Alex Campbell, 26-year-old of Seaforth Capture Land, St Thomas.
It is reported that about 7 p.m., police operatives were on duty in the community in search of drugs, guns and wanted persons.
While in the area, the team was allegedly challenged by Campbell, who was shot and killed during the confrontation.
The police say they retrieved from him a nine millimetre pistol affixed with a magazine containing six rounds of nine millimetre cartridges.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has since launched a probe into the fatal shooting.
