Policeman in St Catherine accused of sexual assault remanded

A St Catherine-based policeman accused of sexually assaulting a woman and attempting to flee Jamaica was remanded when he appeared in the parish court today.

The cop, who is assigned to the Bog Walk Police Station, is facing charges of causing grievous bodily harm, abduction, cruelty to a child and rape.

He was ordered to return to the court on Friday, September 20.

He being represented by attorney-at-law Richard Lynch.

Allegations are that the policeman sexually assaulted the female complainant.

A report was made and an investigation was launched with a file being submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, which ruled that the cop should be charged.

The policeman was held Friday, September 13 as he was reportedly trying to leave the island.
