The driver accused of hitting and killing two men who were assisting a motorist along Washington Boulevard in St Andrew last month has been granted bail.

He is 22-year-old university student Tor Anur McIntosh, of a Kingston 6 address, who is charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving.

McIntosh was granted bail today in the sum of $3 million with sureties following a bail application made by King's Counsel Peter Champagnie and attorney-at-law Samoi Campbell.

According to reports, on September 28, the two men were standing along the roadway when they were allegedly struck by a motorcar. They later succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.

The men had stopped to assist another motorist who had been involved in an accident.

The deceased have been identified as 37-year-old Javaughn Rodney, a motor vehicle inspector of Dagwood Place, Ebony Vale, Spanish Town, St Catherine; and 50-year-old businessman Mark Garrick of Rudolph Avenue, Kingston 20.

McIntosh has been ordered to return to the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on November 26. The judge also ordered him to surrender his travel documents to the police, and he is prohibited from driving any motor vehicles.
