Approximately $20 million in patching works for North Coast Highway

The National Works Agency (NWA) says it is ramping up activities to repair sections of the North Coast Highway in Hanover, through the Relief Emergency Assistance and Community Help (REACH) programme.

The NWA says the repairs will be carried out over the next two weeks.

Community Relations Officer for the NWA's Western Region, Janel Ricketts, says that the project is valued at just under $20 million and will commence on the weekend.

Ricketts says that the project involves repairs to the section of the North Coast Highway, leading from Great River to Negril.

Emphasis is being placed on specific areas along the route including Hopewell, Sandy Bay, Mosquito Cove, Lucea, Davis Cove, and Orange Bay.

The REACH programme is devoted to providing relief to communities affected by the passage of Hurricane Beryl.

This aspect of the programme is valued at approximately $3 billion and forms part of the government's response to deteriorating road conditions islandwide.
