Nominations deadline for Musgrave medals extendto Dec 31
The Institute of Jamaica has indicated that the deadline has been extended for the call for nomination for the Musgrave Medals Award 2024.
Originally set to close on November 30, nominations will now be accepted until December 31, allowing more time for outstanding individuals and organisations to be recognised for their exceptional contributions.
The Musgrave Medals Award celebrates excellence in literature, science, and the arts, honouring individuals who have made significant impacts in their respective domains, including legends like Louise Bennett, Edna Manley, and Derek Walcott. The extension, the institute said, reflects its commitment to inclusivity and ensuring all deserving nominees have the opportunity to be considered.
MORE THAN JUST HONOURS
“These awards are more than just honours, they symbolise innovation, dedication, and transformative achievements, the institute said. “They recognise individuals and groups whose work inspires, uplifts, and propels progress in the cultural and creative industries. Last year, the prestigious Musgrave Medals Award celebrated Professor Carolyn Cooper (Gold), Dr Lenora Stines (Silver), and Vivian Crawford (Gold) for their impactful contributions to Jamaican culture.”
The nominees range from brilliant researchers and fearless leaders to unsung heroes making a difference in their communities. The Musgrave Medals Award is open to anyone whose contributions embody the spirit of excellence in Literature, Science, and the Arts.
The institute said it remains dedicated to recognising outstanding achievements in these fields.
