Security guard suspected of being involved in burglaries charged over imitation gun

A man who is a security guard suspected of being involved in a series of burglary incidents has been arrested and charged after an imitation gun was found at his home during a police operation.

Charged with possession of prohibited weapon is 22-year-old Javaun Brown, otherwise known as 'Jay', of Lemon Lane in Olympic Gardens, St Andrew.

The police report that between the hours of 1:10 p.m. and 2:20 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, lawmen carried out a raid of a premises occupied by Brown, who was the subject of an alleged series of burglary incidents committed on Salisbury Avenue in the Barbican area.

A joint police operation led to a search of the house, during which a thigh holster containing a black imitation firearm was found inside the bedroom.

Brown was subsequently arrested and charged.

He is to appear before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.
