Man fatally shot by police in Lawrence Tavern, St Andrew

A man was fatally shot by the police and an illegal firearm seized early this morning in Lawrence Tavern, St Andrew.
He is yet to be identified.
The incident happened in an area known as Tavern Gully.
The Gleaner understands the targeted operation by the security forces, which began in the wee hours, is still ongoing.
Lawrence Tavern, which falls in the St Andrew North Police Division, recorded an increase in murders last year.
Meanwhile, the police in the division have now seized two illegal firearms in first three days of the year.
