Student dies during physical education class in Bahamas
NASSAU, Bahamas, CMC – The Catholic Board of Education in the Bahamas has confirmed that a ninth grade student at Aquinas College has died after collapsing during a physical education class.
The board said that trained personnel provided immediate assistance to Ethan Clarke and that he was transported to Doctors Hospital, where he later died.
The cause of death was not disclosed.
The statement said that a team of counsellors and clergy will be on hand to provide support to students, teachers, and parents as they process this loss, describing the student, who joined Aquinas College in September 2024, as kind and mannerly, and a member of the school’s band.
The statement said Archbishop Patrick C Pinder, the Catholic Board of Education Chairman Lambert Longley, and the broader Catholic School system have since extended condolences to Clarke’s parents, relatives, friends.
