Titchfield past students donate over $6 million to the school
The Alumni Association of Titchfield High South Florida Chapter on Monday donated US$43,000 or over J$6.7 million to their alma mater as part of ongoing contributions towards the education and well-being of students.
President of the Florida Chapter, Paul Perry, and two other members of the alumni handed over the cheque to Sheryl Horne-Mair, vice principal of the school, during a brief ceremony at the institution.
Perry said the alumni association's membership has grown, since its inception in 2000, from 15 people to over a thousand in 2025.
“We have been making donations to the school over the years and we are primarily a fund-raising entity and we work closely with the administration of the school in enacting projects that come on board," Perry commented.
“So what we do is we get a proposal from the school about projects that are needed to be undertaken and we will raise funds. We utilise the services of the alumni community in general in the Diaspora. So our members are primarily based in the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States. From time to time we will have different types of fund-raising events. We are here today to donate $43,000 US towards the scholarship programme and general funding for the library at Titchfield," he added.
Five students will benefit from the scholarship programme this year through the donation from the alumni association, with each receiving US$2,000. Additional money will go towards upgrading of the school’s library, which is expected to be transformed into a study area with the latest technological equipment.
