A court date for Khemlani is being arraigned

Detectives attached to the St Andrew North police have now charged 47-year-old Indrue ‘Kishore’ Khemlani for the murder of his landlord.

He was charged on Thursday, January 16 for the death of 56-year-old Roger Evans of 3 Allerdyce Road, Kingston 8.

Khemlani, who is unemployed, was taken into custody on January 9, 2025 after the body of Evans was discovered in a bedroom.

The Gleaner first reported last Wednesday January 15 that a probe was launched into the stabbing and strangulation of Evans committed allegedly by Khemlani at their place of abode on Allerdyce Road in St Andrew.

The Gleaner understands that Khemlani, reportedly held a yard sale of the deceased man’s belongings, during which Evan's body was discovered inside the home.

The St Andrew North police report that on January 9 about 12:30 a.m., Khemlani and Evans had an argument.

The Gleaner understands that Khemlani allegedly waited until his landlord retired to bed and kicked in his bedroom door.

Evans was attacked and an electric iron was used to strike him on the head, inflicting wounds.

Reports are that he was stabbed in his face and his body had visible marks of strangulation.

The police say sometime later that same morning, the accused went to the nearby Shortwood Road area where he advertised the deceased man’s properties, including furniture, for sale.

The Gleaner understands that during the yard sale, where a number of persons allegedly made purchases, enquiries were made on whether there were bedroom items available for sale.

“Interested persons unsuspectingly visited the ‘yard sale’ on invitation and when someone gained access to the bedroom, they stumbled on the body wrapped in a sheet. They left hastily and made a report to the police,” a source with knowledge of the probe told The Gleaner last week.

Our news team gathered that the Grants Pen police were first notified and conducted a search of the premises where Evans body was discovered.

A court date for Khemlani is being arranged.
