Former parliamentarian Phyllis Mitchell has died, PNP pays tribute
The People’s National Party (PNP) is mourning the passing of former parliamentarian Phyllis Mitchell who died today.
She was 79.
The PNP said Mitchell was a dedicated servant of Jamaica and a committed member of the party.
She represented the constituency of North East St Catherine as a Member of Parliament and later served as Minister of State in the Ministry of Education and Culture.
Her passion for education and public service remains an enduring part of her legacy, said the PNP.
“Her contributions to national development and her unwavering commitment to uplifting others will forever be remembered.”
The party said it will provide additional details regarding arrangements to honour her life and service in due course.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to her family, loved ones, and all who share in this loss. May they find strength in the legacy she leaves behind.”
