Investigation under way after elderly patient falls to death at KPH
The management of the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) has confirmed the death of a 75-year-old male patient who fell from the third floor of the building on Saturday.
It said hospital staff promptly responded after the incident.
KPH said the patient was taken to the Accident and Emergency Department, where resuscitation efforts were made but were unsuccessful.
The hospital's management said it has reached out to the patient’s relatives to inform them of his death and is offering counselling services to them
"The management team at KPH extends heartfelt condolences to the family and is committed to providing any additional support required. A comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of this incident is currently under way, with updates to be shared with the Ministry of Health and Wellness and the Board of the South East Regional Health Authority," KPH said in a media release on Thursday.
It said the matter has also been reported to the police, who are conducting their own investigation.
