Ground broken for project to bring water to Jackson Town, Trelawny
About 2500 residents of Jackson Town and surrounding districts are expected to benefit from a $75 million water project in that area of Trelawny.
Minister with responsibility for water, Matthew Samuda, joined representatives of the National Water Commission and Member of Parliament for Trelawny Southern, Marisa Dalrymple-Philibert in breaking ground for the project on Friday.
"This project, which will take three months to complete, it will benefit some 2,500 residents. It will include 1.5 kilometres of pipe laying," said Samuda.
Philibert for her part apologised to residents of Grove who live outside the 1.5 kilometre range.
"I am sorry that you the residents of Grove [will not benefit], but I promise that water tanks will be placed in your area. I implore you to take care of the tanks and look out for those who will choose to remove them," she urged.
