Jamaican man found dead in prison cell in Antigua
ST JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC - A Jamaican man who was remanded after appearing in court on Thursday in Antigua on a charge of the larceny of a cell phone was found dead in his cell on Friday.
Superintendent of Prison, Colonel Trevor Pennyfeather, confirming the death of Chinlee Robinson, 27, said he was found unresponsive on his bed in the cell and that it is too early to determine the cause.
Officers from the Criminal Investigations Department are currently on the scene conducting inquiries into the incident.
Robinson had appeared in court on Thursday for a hearing, but bail complications arose due to his missing passport.
