National Stadium repairs not linked to Freedom Street concert, says Independence Park GM
General Manager of Independence Park Limited (IPL), Major Desmon Brown, has dismissed concerns surrounding the state of facilities at the National Stadium, as he stated that ongoing repairs are not due to Vybz Kartel's Freedom Street concert held at the venue on New Year's Eve.
The repairs, according to Brown, are a part of the IPL's annual maintenance programme which was planned months in advance.
He stated that any damage done by the Freedom Street concert is not a cause of concern for IPL.
“There was some damage done by Freedom Street but it was nothing significant,” Brown told The Gleaner.
“The majority of the repairs you see here today are a part of our annual maintenance programme.”
Brown explained that all events scheduled at the National Stadium for 2025 will be held at the venue without any obstruction from the repairs.
