The Jah-Jah Foundation, in association with Witfield ‘Witty’ Henry, a dancehall promoter, will be hosting what is being touted as a massive health fair at Fletchers Land in Kingston this morning to provide medical check-ups for residents in and around that area.

Witty, who is also the promoter of a popular event called Dancehall Mondays, explained that the health fair is aimed at providing free medical care and check-ups to residents living in Allman Town, Hanna Town, Spoilers, Campbell Town, Jones Town, East Queens Street, and Southside and its environs.

“This is the third time that we will be doing this health fair, so please come out in droves and get your free medical check-up,” Henry said yesterday.

“My adopted son is a doctor and he has a foundation, Jah-Jah Foundation. So this foundation is sponsoring 30 doctors who will be coming down from Brooklyn, New York, in the United States to provide free healthcare. These doctors are trained in different fields, including surgeons, eye doctors, dentistry, and, of course, there will be a gynaecologist.

“I am expecting 1,000 or more people to come in for this health fair. It is the greatest thing that I can provide for my community, and it is my way of giving back to the people. So just come out in your numbers and get your free medical check-up because dancehall people dem nuh really get medical check-up like that until something happens.”

The health fair is scheduled to get under way at 9:30 a.m. at 1B Garrick Lane, off King Street, and will provide free medical checks including blood pressure testing (hypertension), blood sugar test (diabetes), eye testing, dental treatment, and cholesterol testing.
