People's National Party (PNP) aspirant for St Catherine East Central, Raymond Pryce, says he still has his eyes set on victory amid today’s passage of a Bill to amend the Counties and Parishes Act to make Portmore Jamaica’s 15th parish.

The Bill was passed in the House of Representatives using the Government’s supermajority, with 28 Members of Parliament for, 10 against and 24 absent.

Opposition MPs, who had vehemently challenged the Bill, walked out of the House after the result of the vote was announced.

Pryce remains undisturbed by the impending change to Portmore.

"This was always a retroactive attempt to overturn the democratic decisions taken by the people of Portmore and St Catherine by invalidating the ballots of the voters," he told The Gleaner.

While awaiting the name of his new constituency, Pryce remains confident.

"This election, whether in East Central St Catherine or Northern Portmore, will see the potential of the people of the constituency finally unlocked," he stated.

Pryce, who will see PNP stronghold areas Lakes Pen and Lime Tree Grove cut from St Catherine East Central, took aim at Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness.

"Maybe now the Prime Minister will call the election – and hasten the end of his faltering administration," he said.

He ended with a bold declaration: "Bring it on."
