A bar operator in Byndloss Crossroads, Ewarton, St Catherine, was charged today after police discovered a quantity of ganja and uncustomed cigarettes at his establishment.

Charged with possession of ganja, dealing in ganja, and possession of uncustomed goods is 42-year-old Wayne Douglas.

Reports from the Linstead police indicate that at about 1:15 a.m., officers were on patrol in the area when Douglas was seen at his bar with a group of men behaving in a manner that aroused their suspicion.

Checks were made, and during a search of the area, a box containing J$5,000, 48 small bags of ganja, and two boxes of ‘Tradition’ brand cigarettes was found under the counter of the bar.

Douglas was arrested and taken into custody, where he was formally charged.

He is scheduled to appear before the St Catherine Parish Court on Wednesday, March 19.
