Operating theatre at Annotto Bay Hospital to be closed for 30 days
The North-East Regional Health Authority (NERHA) is advising the public that the operating theatre at the Annotto Bay Hospital will be temporarily closed for 30 days to accommodate maintenance works.
According to NERHA, the temporary closure will take effect on March 17, as the maintenance interventions and critical renovation works are necessary at this time.
In a statement released Thursday, NERHA said that the temporary closure is necessary to improve the functionality of the operating theatre to ensure the highest standard of care for patients and to enhance employees’ work environment.
The statement said that during the period of the closure alternative arrangements have been made at the Port Maria Hospital in the parish and also the Port Antonio Hospital in Portland to accommodate operating theatre services.
Among the services to be conducted elsewhere are obstetric emergencies and elective surgeries at Port Maria Hospital and general surgery emergencies and elective surgery cases at Port Antonio Hospital.
NERHA said that critical surgical case requiring specialised care will continue to be referred to the St Ann's Bay Regional and other hospitals as necessary.
"We assure the public that we prioritise our clients' and employees' well-being and care while strengthening our facility, which is geared towards enhancing healthcare service delivery," the statement concluded.
