St Catherine man to spend over 15 years in prison for sexual assault

A St Catherine man who was convicted for sexual offences was on Friday sentenced to serve 15-years and three months' imprisonment before being eligible to apply for parole.

The 40-year-old was sentenced by Justice Bertram Morrison in the St Catherine Circuit Court.

The accused was found guilty of indecent assault and having sexual intercourse with a person under 16 years old.

It was alleged that he sexually assaulted a 15 year old girl on several occasions.

A report was made to the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse which launched a probe.

The accused was arrested and subsequently charged.

He was tried and found guilty by a jury last year.
