St James boy caught on camera, charged for stealing $7,000 from a house
A 14-year-old boy who is accused of breaking into a house in Somerton in St James and stealing $7,000, has been charged.
His name has not been released because he is a child.
He has been charged with housebreaking and larceny, a police statement said Saturday.
According to the Adelphi police, a family securely locked their home in Yorkland, before leaving around 12: 30 p.m. on February 8.
Later that afternoon, a family member reportedly received a notification from their CCTV system and, upon checking the feed, allegedly saw the teenager inside a bedroom ransacking the area.
When the family returned, they discovered that $7,000 in cash was missing and that the washroom door at the back of the house had been opened.
A report was made, and an investigation was launched.
The teen was handed over to the police on Friday and was subsequently charged after a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.
