The United Way of Jamaica and the Discovery Bauxite Community Council have teamed up to start a chicken-rearing project for 25 farmers in the company’s adjoining communities. The project was launched at Discovery Bauxite on March 20. It will be funded from a $500,000 grant offered by the United Way to the council and an additional $150,000 from the company to support the project, which will be managed by Discovery Bauxite. Celebrating the launch (from left) are: Chris Cargill, acting general manager, Discovery Bauxite; Council members and farmers Dianne Heron, Denise Edwards (partly hidden), Vincent Green, Janet Hunter and Ricardo Sinclair; and Nordia Tracey (Discovery Bauxite HR manager).
