Man charged after woman allegedly hauled into bushes, robbed and sexually assaulted in St Thomas
A St Thomas construction worker accused of abducting, sexually assaulting, and robbing a woman of $94,000 in January has been charged with multiple offences, the police say.
An alleged accomplice is being sought.
Charged is 49-year-old Anthony Graham, otherwise called ‘Ebbeh,’ a construction worker of Springfield district, Morant Bay.
Detectives from the St Thomas police division have charged him with assault at common law, grievous sexual assault, robbery with aggravation, unauthorised access to a computer device, forcible abduction, and simple larceny following the attack in Woodburn district, Yallahs.
He is scheduled to appear in the St Thomas Parish Court on April 9.
The police alleged that around 7:31 p.m. on January 25, Graham dragged the woman walking along the roadway into nearby bushes before forcing her into the back of a car driven by his accomplice.
The vehicle was taken to an isolated area, where the men stole her Samsung A24 and iPhone 12 Pro Max, as well as her Scotia debit card.
They allegedly then forced her to reveal passwords and PINs before sexually assaulting her and leaving her behind.
The suspects allegedly withdrew $24,000 from an ATM in Kingston. The total value of the stolen items is estimated at $92,000.
A police investigation was launched after the woman reported the incident.
Detectives made a breakthrough on Wednesday, leading to Graham’s arrest.
He was charged following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney, a statement said.
