JCF raises threat level in Corporate Area following police killing of alleged gang member
The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has elevated its threat level following the police fatal shooting of Shacqol Pounal, otherwise called ‘Track Star’, who law enforcers say is a high-ranking member of the 7’s gang.
"The 7’s gang, which operates in sections of Waltham Park, St Andrew, has issued threats of reprisal in response to Pounal’s death; therefore, all members of the JCF are urged to exercise extreme vigilance, particularly within the Corporate Area, and to act lawfully to protect themselves," a release from the JCF's Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) stated on Wednesday.
"Criminals are also reminded to surrender peacefully when confronted by the police," it continued.
Pounal was fatally shot in his home off Waltham Park Road.
Residents say that about 5:00 a.m., lawmen entered the house and removed the now-deceased man from the premises. Afterwards, explosions were heard.
The police did not offer an account of the incident in the CCU release issued on Wednesday afternoon.
However, the police say Pounal was a person of interest in a quadruple murder on Ayshire Avenue, Kingston 10, on November 25, 2024, as well as other incidents currently under investigation.
The JCF says it "remains steadfast in its dedication to maintaining law and order and will continue to pursue those involved in criminal activities."
The public is being urged to share information on criminal activities by calling anonymously through Crime Stop at 311, the National Intelligence Bureau at 811, the 119 emergency numbers, or visiting the nearest police station.
