The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) says the soldier who was injured in a vehicular crash on the Lionel Town main road in Clarendon on Monday has died.

Private Cavevian Crawford died at the Kingston Public Hospital on Friday.

The JDF says its Chaplaincy and Welfare Department is providing counselling and support services to the soldier's family and the battalion to which he was posted.

"The JDF offers its sincere condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the Late Private CRAWFORD during this time of bereavement," the JDF said in a statement on Saturday.

It's reported that, shortly after midnight Monday, the soldier was driving when, on reaching a section of the Lionel Town main road, he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a wall.
