Police charge alleged contract killer and gang member with murder
Police in the St Andrew South Division say they have have charged a known top shooter aligned to the York Avenue gang in connection with a murder committed on Modyford Road, Kingston 11, on October 16, 2024.
He is 31-year-old Nicola Reid, otherwise called 'Yankie', unemployed, of Barton Road in Westchester, Portmore, St Catherine.
The police say he is also believed to have operated as a contract killer within the Kingston Metropolitan Region and across Jamaica.
Reid was arrested during a targeted police operation, which the police say followed intense investigations and the gathering of critical evidence.
He was interviewed in the presence of his attorney and subsequently charged with murder and multiple firearm-related offences.
The police say this is in addition to other gun related charges that he is already facing with other matters under investigation.
The St Andrew South Police are urging anyone with information that could assist in this or other investigations involving Reid to come forward.
They are also seeking to assure the public that all tips will be treated with the strictest confidence.
