14 Hampton School students injured in bus crash
Fourteen students of Hampton School this morning sustained injuries after a bus they were travelling in crashed along the roadway in Holland Bamboo in St Elizabeth.
They were rushed to the Black River Hospital for treatment.
Principal Dr Mahvell Charlton-Brown has indicated that the students have since been treated and released.
“They have all been dealt with and have now been released. About three of them had to do an X-ray, and one child sustained some injury to her teeth; some of her front teeth were significantly affected, but arrangements are being made through the hospital for her to get attention,” she said.
She shared that arrangements were made for students who were sitting Caribbean Examinations Council exams to have them done while at the hospital.
She added that the students were given counselling by school staff.
In an alert sent to parents this morning, the school stated that a bus transporting students on the Middle Quarters to Hampton route was involved in an accident and that the injured were taken to the Black River Hospital.
