Consultant launches books focused on new business growth mindset
If anything has been learned over the past four years, it is that a passive approach to business growth will quickly get you forgotten. From the fast-moving consumer good to the artisan whose creation hangs in museums for all to see, every business must devise a sales plan to thrive and remain relevant. An assertive and deliberate approach is the new order of the day.
Latoya Anderson-Buchanan, a business development consultant and sales coach understands the concept of turning lemons into lemonade. She exited corporate Jamaica when the company went through a restructuring exercise and she found that the process of being re-employed took longer than she desired.
The skillsets she acquired became the tool she used to open her consulting business 24 Gates Consulting. The services offered allows her to cater to the needs of the business community identifying gaps in their business development process and working with them for improvement.
During her day-to day duties, she realises the difference in how larger more structured companies execute and manage their daily business development procedures and the practices of companies that are in the MSME and SME category.
Anderson-Buchanan notes that this is largely dependent on the mindset that business owners and leaders have towards business development, where they believe it is a self0sufficient process rather than a more deliberate and focused approach.
She notes that companies and even entrepreneurs who have a methodology for business development usually yield higher success, Anderson-Buchanan answered the call when she penned and published not one, but two business development books to help business-owners and salespersons to become more profitable. The books, Sold Out and Building Fortitude, were launched at The Summit Hotel on May 30 with sponsorship from the business community and medical fraternity. The audience included executives from the Small Business Association, business-owners from the ecumenical group, family and friends.
