Section of road to Meadowrest to be closed for two months for drainage works
The National Works Agency (NWA) is reporting that a section of Frazers Boulevard, the road that leads to Meadowrest Memorial Gardens in St Catherine, will be closed for two months starting Monday, June 16, to facilitate the construction of a box culvert.
The works are to be undertaken in the vicinity of Rosewood Drive.
NWA Manager of Communication and Customer Services, Stephen Shaw, says that Frazers Boulevard is currently being rehabilitated at a cost of $112 million.
He says the box culvert that is to be constructed forms part of the final stages of the project, which has been under way since March.
During the period of closure, the detour route for persons travelling to Meadowrest Memorial Gardens will be via the Green Acres community.
Motorists travelling from the vicinity of Featherbed Lane will continue past Frazers Boulevard to the main entrance of the Green Acres community, turn right onto Century Boulevard, continue along Century Boulevard, then turn right onto Gerard Road.
They should continue along Gerard Road back to Frazers Boulevard.
The reverse will apply for motorists travelling from Meadowrest towards St John's Road.
Motorists are being urged to exercise caution while travelling in the area during the period of works and to obey the instructions on posted warning signs.
