Central High School in Clarendon is considering postponing its end-of-year examinations following the sudden death of grade nine student Daylan Findlay on Friday.

“We are at the stage now where end-of-term exams should be administered. I spoke with the leadership there, who advised me that they are thinking about pushing back the end-of-year exams by a couple of days,” the school’s chairman, George Clue, told The Gleaner.

He added, “The school is in mourning, everybody is shocked. A teacher died recently, and the teacher’s death is also being considered a sudden death.”

Clue said Findlay fainted during lunchtime and was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“Unconfirmed reports, as I was told by the leadership, are that he is a part of the dance club at school and may have been participating in a lunchtime activity. The activity may have ended, and he fainted and was taken for medical attention and was pronounced dead,” Clue explained.

He said inquiries so far have revealed that the student had no known illnesses.

The school is now awaiting an autopsy report.
