Over 4,000 pounds of ganja seized in St Thomas, man arrested
The police in St Thomas on Saturday night seized over 4,000 pounds of ganja in knitted bags in an unoccupied building in Prospect in the parish.
A 70-year-old man who was found at the premises was taken into custody.
The police say checks revealed that he is Bahamian and that Bahamian officials in Jamaica were notified.
His name is being withheld as the investigation is ongoing.
Reports are that about 11:20 p.m., police operatives conducted an operation in prospect during which the unoccupied building was searched.
The police say they discovered 154 knitted bags containing a total of 765 packages of ganja, weighing 4,079 pounds.
