Elderly woman dead following explosion caused by gas stove

The Linstead police in St Catherine are investigating the fiery death of a 92-year-old woman following an explosion caused by a gas stove at her home in the parish on Monday.
She has been identified as Gloria Oldham of Jericho district, St Catherine.
Reports are that about 4:30 p.m., Oldham was at home when she lit a gas stove and it exploded, causing her to suffer severe burns.
The senior citizen was assisted to the Linstead Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
The Linstead police have since launched an investigation into the matter.
