Westmoreland man charged with rape, burglary

Sleuths assigned to the Westmoreland Police Division on Thursday charged 31-year-old Abaqio Gooden, otherwise called ‘Bobby’, a labourer of Georges Plain, with burglary, rape, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm following an incident in Bamboo Walk, Georges Plain.

Reports from the Savanna-la-Mar police are that at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27, a woman locked up her house and retired to bed.

She was later awoken by a loud noise and saw Gooden kicking in her front door, according to the police.

He reportedly entered the house and sexually assaulted and threatened her.

On Saturday, June 28, Gooden was held by the residents of the community and handed over to the police.

He was subsequently charged on Thursday, July 03, after a question-and-answer session.

His court date is being arranged.
