Golding uses expletive amid mic issues at PNP meeting
Opposition Leader Mark Golding was caught on camera uttering an expletive after experiencing microphone issues during a People's National Party (PNP) meeting in St Ann South Western on Friday.
“St West St Ann, are you ready for I man, Markie G, Mark Jefferson Golding,” he started to ask the cheering crowd. But then he began to tap the mic as the problems persisted.
“Yow, yow, yow,” he said while testing the microphone. “Well yuh look like yuh ready, yuh soun like yuh ready, yuh feel like yuh ready,” he continued before tapping the equipment again. “And, even though the mic nuh ready, and even though the mic, blood…,” he added with more taps as the mic continued to malfunction.
The incident comes just two weeks after PNP General Secretary Dr Dayton Campbell called for the prosecution of Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Member of Parliament Everald Warmington, following an expletive-laden outburst at a party meeting in Westmoreland on June 29.
Warmington later apologised, and Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness, the JLP leader, publicly urged his party’s representatives to act with decency throughout the campaign for the general election, which is widely expected by September.
Golding and the PNP have not yet commented on the latest incident.
The PNP's Danishka Williams is expected to challenge the JLP's incumebent Member of Parliament Zavia Mayne for the seat.
